Enjoying the Ride

Have you ever noticed that you can get so caught up in the planning and putting together, you miss out on the actual event? For three years, not intentionally mind you, I was so busy trying to make sure everything for our marriage retreats went off without a hitch (who was I kidding?...) that for those earlier retreats I missed out on a real blessing. Luckily I've learned to surround myself with some (most of the time) sane people, who remind me; that things have a way of taking care of themselves, and not to miss out on the good stuff. Once you stop running around like a chicken with your head cut off, you actually can see what you need. This year's retreat, was like that for me. While things may not have gone according to schedule or what was planned, I was able to stop and breathe. I was able to listen, and apply some of the lessons that were presented. Of course every now and again, I'll go into a tail spin, but for the most part I've learned to slow down, and enjoy this ride of marriage that I'm on. I liked the example that was used this evening (should I go into advertising...)in our Marriage and Family Seminar:
Life has it's ups and downs (that's a given) it's up to us how E X T R E M E those ups and downs are.
They're here until Wednesday-7:45pm.
