While the history of Valentine's Day is a bit iffy, most of us do a little something something for the occasion. FEBRUARY 14TH, 2008-THURSDAY (2 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!) I'm trying to help somebody!!!
Women! Don't forget the men either ;)
According to History.com, one of the legends surrounding Valentine was that he was a priest killed for marrying young soldiers (after it was outlawed-it was believed the young unmarried soldiers made better soldiers than married men with families). Another legend was that Valentine fell in love with his jailer's daughter and, before his death, wrote her a love letter signed "From your Valentine"... you see where this is going? By the middle of the eighteenth century (in Great Britain) it was common for friends and lovers alike to exchange hand-written notes, as well as give small tokens. Due to improved technology, by the end of the century, printed cards began to replace hand-written notes. (I'm not mad at technology, but "me thinks somethings shouldn't be contaminated by techno stuff").
I still have letters written to me by David before we were married. It's nice to look at them ... sorry started reminiscing...You can't beat the personal touch. And yes he's a talented song writer and all, but most of his letters he was just putting it out there, no poetry (well, not a lot anyway).
Instead of waiting til the last minute... put some thought into what would bring a smile. (That's all I feel comfortable in asking for). I bet you'd be surprised what just a smile can do for the remainder of the month, maybe even the year, if you're that good.
Whatever You decide to do this Valentine's Day,
Be Grateful for What and Who you Have, and remember the Present is a Gift, Tomorrow is not Guaranteed.
All the Best!
Let me know how it works out?!
